It was a pleasure to meet with Canon Stanley Ofoegbu at St Teresa of Lisieux Church on Kingsbury Drive and to hear more about the important role he and the wider parish community play across our area.
Canon Stanley is the Parish Priest of the Parish of All Saints, West Nottingham, and provides leadership and support to parishioners through the church’s religious and community life. The parish also has strong links with St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School, supporting young people through worship, education and the celebration of important milestones in their faith.
What particularly stood out to me was the wider contribution that the church and its congregation make to our community. Churches such as St Teresa’s are far more than places of worship. They provide a welcoming and supportive environment where people can come together, build friendships, support one another and maintain a strong sense of community. The congregation’s commitment to helping others, supporting families and bringing people together makes an important contribution to the wellbeing and cohesion of our local neighbourhood.
We also discussed the importance of working in partnership with local community organisations and how the congregation can continue to play a positive role in supporting residents and responding to issues affecting our area. I greatly value that contribution and the willingness of the church to engage constructively with the wider community.
I look forward to meeting Canon Stanley again in due course, continuing our conversations and spending more time with members of the congregation. I am grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to building a strong and positive relationship with St Teresa’s and the wider parish community.
